“Did you access an unauthorised programme?”
A new trailer for Academy Award-winning director Oliver Stone’s (from “midnight Express”) “Snowden” has been released! The political drama thriller stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt (from “Don Jon” and “Inception”) and it will be based on biographical novels “The Snowden Files: The Inside Story of the World’s Most Wanted Man” by Luke Harding and “Time of the Octopus” by Anatoly Kucherena.
Edward Snowden (played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is an American computer professional who leaked classified information from the National Security Agency (NSA) to the mainstream media in June 2013. The film will follow his journey from Hawaii to Hong Kong, where he met documentary filmmaker Laura Poitras and journalist Glenn Greenwald to hand over top-secret NSA documents, all before seeking asylum in Russia.
The movie will also star Shailene Woodley (from the “Divergent” series), Zachary Quinto (from “Star Trek”), Melissa Leo (from “London Has Fallen”), and a minor appearance by Nicolas Cage (from “The Runner”).
The trailer shows us a little bit of Snowden’s life before he entered the NSA. Being a patriotic citizen of America, he first chose to serve the military but after injuring his legs, he left the army and decided to use his intelligence to give back to his country instead.
Then, he finds the government’s surveillance activities, copies all the information, hides it in a Rubik’s cube (brilliant idea by the way), and seeks help outside the country.

“Snowden” is slated for release on 16th September 2016.
