It’s finally happening!
EDM producer Zedd and Kesha have been teasing fans with pictures of them working together in the studio on social media, and now they’re officially releasing their new single. He just posted the single cover with the caption, “ZEDD & KESHA – TRUE COLOURS. OFFICIALLY OUT: 4/29. Music can be freedom.”
“True Colours” is a new version of the title track from Zedd’s 2015 album of the same name. The single artwork shows a wooden plaque with ornate gold detailing. In the middle of it is a large Z letter with the artistes’ names written above and their single title at the bottom.
The news comes after Kesha shared a photo of herself recording the track while praising the DJ for helping her find her voice again, saying, “It’s a miracle when someone gives you a chance at finding your voice again with no reason other than that he is a f**king beautiful person with a heart of gold.”
Given that a judge previously denied the singer’s desire to get out of her contract with her alleged abuser Dr. Luke’s Kemosabe Records, how was Kesha still able to record and release new music? Zedd has the answers.
The German music-maker explained that both Kemosabe and its parent company RCA Label Group gave the green light. “Just to clarify: We didn’t use any loop holes. Kemosabe / RCA gave us permission to release this song!” he wrote on Twitter. Dr. Luke replied Zedd’s tweet saying, “Thank you for the clarification, Zedd…”
Thanks for the clarification @Zedd …

During a recent Coachella music festival, Kesha wowed fans when she joined Zedd onstage to perform the DJ’s hit song, “True Colours”. Although she didn’t personally address the crowd, the singer allowed the track’s powerful message to do the talking. “I won’t apologize for the fire in my eyes. Let me show you my true colours,” she sang.
We don’t know about y’all but we can’t wait for Kesha’s musical comeback!
UPDATE (29th April, 5:20pm):
It’s here, it’s here!
The full-length track for Kesha and Zedd’s “True Colours” was released on Daily New Jams hours ago and it is awesome. The single also marks the first time we’ve heard Kesha’s voice since her collaboration with Pitbull with “Timber” in 2013.
The songstress shared a video clip of her running though flowers on Facebook, writing, “this is more than a song. it’s a declaration of my truth.”
