If you’re a dance music fan but you’ve never heard of Kaskade, much less his work, then you’ve probably been living under a rock.
The New York Times called him the “new face of electronic dance music” in a recent profile, but Ryan Raddon, also known as Kaskade, has been in the trenches of the EDM scene as an original recording artiste and in-demand DJ for more than a decade.
He has released 8 studio albums, including his latest, “Automatic”, scored nine Top 10 hits on Billboard’s Hot Dance Airplay Chart, created chart-topping remixes for everyone from Lady Gaga to Beyoncé, and appeared at all the major summer festivals.
He has also performed between 150 and 200 headlining shows a year for the last 10 years, building a name for himself as an innovator of the EDM scene as we know it today, which has opened doors for the likes of deadmau5, Tiesto, Skrillex, and more.
More recently, Kaskade decided to go independent, starting his own music label which he says will be used to promote “one-of-a-kind” music.
The label’s name, “Arkade”, is based on Kaskade’s memories from spending time at Dog Ear Records, an arcade-record shop hangout where he spent many after-school hours digging through crates of vinyl through his younger days.
In fact, in an exclusive interview with us, he said of “Arkade”:
I think that the idea was to..I’m in a position where a lot of people are listening to my live shows and I have a lot of friends giving me music and..I’m able to share their music and help my friends out. I share my music and I share theirs by putting it out on the label. There are a lot of incredible talents out there right now so it’s a good time.
It’s undeniable. Kaskade has laid the foundation for a titanic musical and cultural shift: a post-rock EDM revolution that has captured the imagination of a new generation of music lovers across the globe. His rabid fan base and a career of unprecedented millstones has helped ignite the frenzy surrounding North America’s exploding dance music scene.
And in just a few weeks, Kaskade will be speaking at the 2nd installment of IMS Asia-Pacific in Singapore, the premier platform of thought leadership in electronic music, fronted by music icon and industry leader Pete Tong.
