Time really flies, especially when one has a newborn baby onboard.
It wasn’t too long ago that Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi, 37, and her husband, Chinese rock musician Wang Feng, 44, welcomed their baby girl into the world. In celebration of her 100th day yesterday (10th April), the couple threw an extravagant birthday ceremony in Beijing.
The theme of the party was aptly titled “Awaken With Love”, hinting that the birth of their daughter, Xing Xing (which means awake in English), has brought warmth and devotion to the couple and their family.
It appears that the parents spared no expenses on their cute daughter’s big day as photos of the venue showed the place decked out in pink and white flowers as well as gigantic balloons. There were also decorations of little lambs to signify the baby’s Chinese birth year.
It is a common Chinese custom to celebrate the 100th day after the birth of the baby as it represents the wish that the child will live on for 100 years.
Wang’s daughter from his previous marriage, 10-year-old Manxi, who was also present at the event, performed a musical piece for the audience. According to Ming Pao Daily News, when Zhang called her up on stage, Manxi became emotional and cried. No doubt those were happy tears.
Many of the couple’s celebrity friends from the showbiz including directors Feng Xiaogang, Lu Chuan, singers Na Ying, Li Jian, Jane Zhang, actresses Yao Chen, Ruby Lin, cross-talk comedian Guo Degang as well as Huayi Brothers executives Wang Zhongjun and Wang Zhonglei, were all present to send their blessings and congratulations.
Zhang took to Weibo to post several pictures from the joyous celebration with the caption, “Xing Xing, having you is what I’m proudest of. Thanks for picking me as your mum.”
