It’s almost a year since Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi (章子怡) announced her divorce from musician Wang Feng (汪峰) and it seems that the two have put their past behind them, given that the latter is dating someone new. However, more allegations are coming out after their separation, shedding new light on an old speculation.
Recently, Chinese social media has been buzzing about a video posted by a celebrity blogger, which talks about the real reason for Zhang Ziyi and Wang Feng’s divorce. The blogger alleges that the information was from Zhuo Wei (卓伟), a paparazzo well-known for having insider knowledge of Chinese celebs. According to the video, Zhuo Wei claimed that the two stars did indeed divorce because Wang Feng was cheating.
To recap, Zhang Ziyi and Wang Feng announced their separation in October 2023 after eight years of marriage. Many netizens suspected cheating was involved, but the couple denied the allegations. In the video, Zhuo Wei claimed that Wang Feng did cheat on his now ex-wife and was caught red-handed by her brother, Zhang Zinan (章子男). It’s common knowledge among fans that Zhang Zinan is protective of his sister and wasn’t fond of Wang Feng, so it’s no surprise that he immediately broke the news to her.
The paparazzo said the cheating was a deal-breaker for the divorce, noting that the two already had marital problems. However, Zhuo Wei commended Zhang Ziyi’s maturity when dealing with Wang Feng’s cheating, saying she immediately asked for a divorce instead of causing a scene. The insider also spoke about the “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” actress’ career following her divorce. He said she eventually made some “beneficial friendships” and found more success in her career, which allegedly included overseeing several companies.
On the other hand, Wang Feng has since found new love with a Chinese influencer named Li Qiao (李巧). However, when announcing his relationship, he reiterated that they only began dating after his divorce. He also mentioned taking legal action against such accusations that his new partner was his mistress.
