Zarina Anjoulie has once again drawn the attention of netizens over a posting she shared on her socials recently. Over the weekend, the local actress-turned-influencer shared a video of her undergoing the gastric balloon procedure on her Instagram.
As per Mayo Clinic, the intragastric balloon procedure is a weight-loss procedure that involves placing a silicone balloon in the patient’s stomach. This helps them lose weight by limiting how much food they can eat, apart from making them feel fuller faster.

“This is the procedure of the intragastric balloon. I had to fast a day before that. During the procedure, you can either swallow the gastric balloon or the doctor will insert a thin tube loaded with the balloon down your throat into your stomach. The process has to be fast, since the balloon is in a form of a veggie pill. If you’re late, then the pill will disintegrate,” Anjoulie, or Anju in short, shared with her followers online.
The “Anak Pontianak” star then added, “After the balloon reaches your stomach, the doctor will then check on whether the positioning of the balloons on your stomach through the X-ray, then they will start filling it with saline water.” After going through another X-ray checkup, then the patient will be admitted to the ward for recovery. “You’ll feel like throwing up for the next four days. Not to mention, you’ll experience cramps and also discomfort in your tummy,” Anju said.
“The doctor will prescribe some medicine for you. But seriously, from the day I fasted, up until the third day, I didn’t feel hungry at all,” the 34-year-old added in her caption. In the same post, Anju also revealed that the cost of installing the gastric balloon may reach around RM16,000 to RM18,000, depending on the price set by selected medical centres that offers the treatment.

Prior to this, Anju took to her IG to share a video of her with bariatric specialist Dr. Nik Ritza Kosai, where he provided further explanations on the procedure as well as the effects of the treatment. Apparently, he’s the same doctor responsible for YB Rina Harun’s dramatic weight loss!
