When Wonder Girl’s disbanded in January, it was reported that Yeeun and Sunmi will be leaving JYP Entertainment too.
Although Yeeun has been busy with variety shows and new music releases, she has been managing herself without an agency since the disbandment. And now, she has found herself an agency!
The 27-year-singer has joined Amoeba Culture as the label’s first female artiste. She will be promoting as a solo artiste under her existing stage name HA:TFELT.
Yeeun also confirmed the news via her Instagram. She posted a photo of the Amoeba Culture logo earlier today (Tuesday, 11th April) along with the caption, “I have a new family..!! Thank you for the warm welcome. As Amoeba Culture’s first female artiste, I will do my best to show everyone good music..!! Please watch over me.”
Amoeba Culture also released an official statement on the issue, saying:
“As of 7th April, 2017, Wonder Girls’ Yeeun, also known as HA:TFELT, will be joining the Amoeba Culture family as a solo artiste.
Yeeun was part of one of K-Pop’s representative girl groups Wonder Girls and she has also shown a lot of potential as a musician as HA:TFELT. Amoeba Culture will continue to work with her to make sure that Ha:tfelt will be able to continue to show off an even broader musical spectrum and different images through her unique talents.
We have always had an open mind about working with one of K-Pop’s representative girl groups in the Wonder Girls. We would also like to express out thanks to Park Jin Young, JYP Entertainment’s representative producer, for all of his advice, support, and encouragement he has given to Yeeun these past 10 years.
We sincerely welcome HA:TFELT, Amoeba Culture’s first female artist in 11 years! We hope everyone can show their interest and encouragement in HA:TFELT’s new path. Thank you.”
In late January, Yeeun was reported to have joined Amoeba Culture, but the label refused to released any specific detail as the girl group was scheduled to release a new song in February.
Amoeba Culture was founded by Dynamic Duo members Gaeko and Choiza in 2006. It currently houses hip-hop musician Primary, group Rhythm Power, and R&B singer Crush. Rapper Simon Dominic and singer Zion.T were also signed to the company but left in 2014 and 2016 respectively.
