Wong Cho Lam (王祖藍) had supposedly been ‘feuding‘ with TVB executives earlier this year. Although others tried fanning the flames by insinuating another feud, news of Cho Lam’s dispute with TVB eventually died down.
However, the 42-year-old Hong Kong actor might have incited another fight again. He recently revealed that TVB rarely gave their artists food while filming and often opted to use fake food!
Currently, Cho Lam is in China with a few other artists from TVB, such as Vincent Wong (王浩信), Owen Cheung (张振朗), and Samantha Ko (高海宁). They were recording a new program “On Air! Sitcom (开播! 情景喜剧)”. According to Cho Lam, they had just finished their isolation period and were meeting for dinner.
However, notably enough, no one moved to partake in the meal once Cho Lam finished the introductions. After an awkward moment, Cho Lam broke the ice by taking some food while chiding the others. “Don’t worry, we’ve left TVB and come to Oriental TV,” he said. “There’s food which you can eat.”
This incited laughter from the others as they started digging into the meal, although Vincent and Owen looked embarrassed. Cho Lam went on to claim that the duo were used to TVB’s way of doing things. Lawrence Ng (吴启华) added that dishes used during TVB’s shootings were fake. “I used to send my assistant to buy food before the shoot so I could actually eat something,” he admitted.
TVB’s culture of using fake food has been discussed before, supposedly by Hong Kong actors Wayne Lai (黎耀祥) and Louis Yuen (阮兆祥). Apparently, TVB often used fake food in order to avoid wastage and to protect the environment.
Well, Cho Lam certainly seems keen on ensuring those around him are fed. TVB has yet to respond to the pointed comment. However, the statement was probably made in jest.
