Local netizens were left dumbfounded after coming across a viral photo showing a “non-halal lift” at a well-known hotel in Kuala Lumpur. In case you don’t know, the revelation was first made by lawyer Siti Kasim on her official Facebook and Twitter accounts.

“So, a friend of mine took this photo at Sheraton Four Points. Can Sheraton Hotels & Resorts explain the rationale behind this? 🤔🤯” the outspoken lawyer questioned. At the time of writing (Tuesday, 4th October), the post has received over 3k reactions on FB.

The post has in turn been flooded with tons of comments left by netizens on social media. It left many wondering about the logic behind the non-halal notice on the lift. “Is it because of the air that the (non-halal people) breath out?” one netizen questioned. Additionally, another FB user also quipped that the lift is specially made for “adulterous couples to get to their rooms.”

On the other hand, some pointed out that the lift may be used to deliver non-halal products straight to the hotel kitchen. One netizen wrote on Twitter, “Halal products cannot be moved using the same lift used for non halal products (in this case, most likely liquor)”.  Another added, “That lift is placed to cater non-halal food items and alcoholic drinks. Usually it’s because the hotel is in the midst of applying for halal status.”

So, what's next? Roads that carry non-halal stuff and Grab cars that carry passengers with non halal things? Where does it stop?

So far, the hotel in question has yet to clarify on the matter.
