Makeshift walls, or hoardings, are commonplace in malls as they help to cover up ongoing construction and block off visitors from entering a site. However, not building a sturdy hoarding can be dangerous for unsuspecting mall-goers.

While Jean was shopping in the Great World mall in Singapore with her toddler, she barely escaped a situation where a makeshift wall could have collapsed over her and her child. According to the video she shared through her TikTok account, @/theeagertraveller, the mother said the wall suddenly collapsed and fell over a man who happened to be walking by.

However, Jean shared that the man was fortunately left uninjured by the incident. When asked if he was okay, the man brushed off the matter and walked off. Jean then mentioned the mall in her video and captions, hoping management would provide the man with medical attention. She also urges Great World to ensure the incident doesn’t happen again.

The aftermath was also captured by another shopper, who shared a video and several images with the Instagram page @/SGfollowsAll. The unnamed individual’s images revealed that the makeshift wall was to cover up constructions for a Japanese restaurant.

Both videos have raked up thousands of views and many comments from netizens sharing their reaction to the incident. Many have said that the contractors should be held liable for the incident because they failed to put up sturdier hoardings. Some also hope the man does seek medical attention or at least receive compensation from the mall.
