Soon-to-be parents, model Tatiana Marchyshyna (林佳娜) and Malaysian-born actor Hero Tai (戴祖雄) were in Poland not too long ago to meet up with Tatiana’s family after a cancelled trip to Ukraine. However, from the moment the two landed in the country, they faced several instances of discrimination.
Through her Instagram, Tatiana revealed that the customs officer who stamped her passport during entry had shockingly asked why she chose to marry an Asian, implying it was because she couldn’t find any other men.
The model then experienced more racism while shopping in the country, saying that a supermarket cashier was suddenly rude after realising she was Ukrainian. Her fiance, Hero Tai, was also discriminated against when a cafe waiter purposely pretended not to understand him despite speaking perfect English.
Tatiana lamented about the experiences, saying that maybe because she had lived in Asia for so long, she had forgotten the discrimination issues in Europe. During her two-week trip to Poland, the celebrity revealed that she didn’t feel like going out for fear that she and her fiance would face discrimination again. She ended her post by saying she was eager to leave the country and hopes to never return.
While in Poland, the couple also held a gender reveal party for their unborn child. The intimate party, joined by Tatiana’s family, was shared through the model’s official YouTube channel. After placing their guesses on the baby’s gender, the couple popped the can containing pink confetti, revealing that their baby would be a girl. The model was especially excited as she was ecstatically jumping after finding out the gender.
Despite the bad experiences with the locals, at least Tatiana and Hero can remember Poland as where they found out the gender of their firstborn.
