Ever wondered what happens when your overly attached furkid is left alone at home? One man just solved the “equation”.
“Mike the Intern” from 104.7 The Cave in Springfield, recently captured what 6-year-old goldendoodle Guinness does when he’s left alone at home. He did so by attaching a GoPro camera to Guinness’ collar. When Mike leaves the apartment, the dog appears to be so #foreveralone that it will reduce you to tears, and not because he turned the house upside down or destroyed things.
Instead, Guinness is seen running around frantically in the apartment looking for his owner. In fact, Guinness spends almost the entire video looking for his owner, howling, crying, and yearning, before finally ending up on a pillow that smells like his owner and promptly falls asleep.

After seeing the footage, Mike posted the video on YouTube (as seen above) and Reddit. He also wrote on Reddit that he will never leave Guinness home alone again. “I’ll probably get another dog… that’s what I’ll do,” Mike said. Of course, needless to say, the video has since gone viral. As of today (Friday, 6th Jan), it has raked in 11 million views.
HLN later reached out to Mike and here’s what went down:
HLN: Why did you decide to try this experiment with the GoPro and your dog?
Michael Holmes: My buddy got a GoPro for graduation, and we put it on my dog. Then we decided to leave it on him while we went to lunch. I wanted to see what he did. He has such an interesting personality, so anything could have happened.
HLN: How long were you gone and what did you expect to find when you finally watched the video?
Michael Holmes: I would say about an hour. The camera died after about 15 minutes of recording. I had no idea what to expect. When I saw it, I was heartbroken and shocked. He has never howled or cried like that before in my life.
HLN: What has been the response since you posted this video?
Michael Holmes: You know the interwebs. Everyone has their own opinion. I try not to read the comments. But there have been plenty. Bottom line is I treat my dog better than most people. And I think it’s probably time for me to get him a brother or sister from a shelter.
