Thai Temptations Buffet Dinner at Lemon Garden @ Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur

Experience a delectable journey through the vibrant flavours of Thailand at Lemon Garden, Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur, where an exclusive Thai Temptation dinner buffet awaits from 6th – 20th July 2024. Delight in an array of authentic Thai dishes crafted with expertise and passion by guest Chef Puongthong Bangsangon from Shangri-La Bangkok. 

Highlighting the buffet are tantalising appetisers like the ‘Yum Som O Pu Nim’, a pomelo salad featuring the sweet zest of pomelo with the savoury crunch of soft-shell crab, roasted coconut, and crispy shallots. For a unique blend of textures, savour the ‘Mieang Pla Tim Tim’ with crispy red tilapia and betel leaves accompanied by traditional Thai condiments.

Chef Puongthong’s signature dish, the ‘Phad Thai Champion’, showcases stir-fried Chanthaburi noodles with succulent seafood and the rich flavour of salted egg from Chaiya, complemented by a savoury-sweet sauce. Soup enthusiasts can relish the spicy and aromatic ‘Tom Yum Goong’ with lemongrass and kaffir lime leaves, or indulge in the creamy ‘Tom Kha Gai’ with its authentic chicken coconut base.

For mains, don’t miss the ‘Massaman Kea’ featuring tender Australian leg of lamb in a rich curry with peanuts and potatoes, served alongside soft roti bread for a delightful combination of sweet, spicy, and nutty flavours. Conclude your culinary adventure with enchanting desserts such as the refreshing ‘Tub Tim Krob’ with crunchy water chestnuts in sweet coconut milk, the warm ‘Sakoo Ton’ tapioca pudding with creamy coconut, and the classic ‘Khao Niew Mamuang’, sweet sticky rice with mango.

The Westin Kuala Lumpur’s all-day dining restaurant, The Living Room, is hosting a Thai culinary takeover featuring guest chef Surachai Pleanbumrung from the Royal Orchid Sheraton Bangkok. For a week, diners can indulge in authentic Thai dishes prepared by Chef Surachai, whose recipes have been handed down through generations and tailored to suit modern palates. This special event celebrates the rich culinary heritage of Thailand, influenced by Indian and Chinese cultures, and known for its use of fresh herbs and spices such as garlic, coriander, lemongrass, mint, and chillies.

The buffet highlights include a variety of Thai favourites, ranging from appetisers to desserts. Notable dishes include Ma Hor (Galloping Horses), a sweet and sticky caramelised minced chicken appetiser served on pineapple or tangerine segments, and Som Tam (Green Papaya Salad), a popular Thai salad offering a perfect balance of sweet, sour, salty, and spicy flavours. Additionally, diners can enjoy Phad Thai Goong Sod (Stir-fried noodles with prawns), Beef Massaman Curry, and Tom Kha Gai (Thai Coconut Chicken Soup), each dish showcasing the complexity and richness of Thai cuisine.

For dessert, the buffet features Khao Niew Mamuang (Mango Sticky Rice), a beloved Thai treat made with sweet glutinous rice and ripe mango slices, drizzled with a coconut milk sauce. Chef Surachai’s extensive menu offers over 20 types of dishes on a rotational basis, ensuring a diverse and satisfying dining experience for all guests.
