Life can hit hard and fast sometimes and we’re never really prepared for it. For MELODY DJ Vivienne Oon (温慧茵), her emotions got taken for a harsh rollercoaster ride when she received the best news of her life, and bad news, all on the same day.
On 28th November, Vivienne Oon was pleasantly surprised when her boyfriend decided to propose to her. However, while she was still riding on the high, Vivienne received bad news when it was announced that local singer Queenzy Cheng (莊群施) had passed away.
Vivienne Oon is currently travelling in Japan with her boyfriend, Toh Yen Lu, who isn’t part of the entertainment industry, and a friend. On 28th November, Vivienne announced good news to her followers when she uploaded a video of her boyfriend kneeling in front of her, to propose to her.
“Finally, there are no more unmarried aunts in the family,” she joked in her caption, before happily declaring: “Call me Mrs. Toh.” Fans and friends were quick to flock to her comments section to congratulate her. However, the local DJ’s delight was marred after it was revealed that Queenzy had passed away on the very same day.
“It feels like a rollercoaster,” she later admitted, while sharing the tragedy on her socials, claiming it had been a bitter pill to swallow. She wished Queenzy rest in her Instagram Story, saying: “Dear Queenzy, may you continue to sing and dance happily in heaven.”
Vivienne and Queenzy had met through their jobs with Vivienne even collaborating with the singer on two of her music videos, “有福” and “开心龙龙Way”, for Queenzy’s 2024 album. The 34-year-old too took the opportunity to recount a moment she had shared with Queenzy, back when they were working on the singer’s music video for “开心龙龙Way”.
“That day, Jentzen and I couldn’t remember the dance steps, so you took the trouble to teach us and practice with us to the point where I was so tired that I went to the corner to practice by myself,” she shared. “(You) also encouraged me, (saying) that I am actually very good at singing and dancing. Why is such a good girl suddenly gone?”
Like Vivienne Oon, many were shocked by news of Queenzy Cheng’s passing. Reportedly, the singer had been in fine health before her sudden passing. Well, we’d still like to formally congratulate Vivienne on her proposal and hope Queezny’s passing will not affect her too badly.
