Swiss lifestyle watch brand SEVENFRIDAY introduces the R-Series, a new collection of automatic timepieces that captures the expressive spirit of the 1960s and 1970s. Featuring three distinctive models, the R1/01, R1/02 and R2/01, the collection combines vintage-inspired aesthetics with contemporary watchmaking, marking a new chapter in the brand’s unconventional approach to design.
As SEVENFRIDAY’s smallest watch collection to date, the R-Series introduces a 40mm cushion-shaped case, a departure from the brand’s traditionally larger and more industrial silhouettes. With its rounded proportions, layered dials and warm metallic accents, the collection offers a playful interpretation of retro style while retaining the distinctive character that defines SEVENFRIDAY.
A Retro Spirit, Reimagined
Inspired by an era of creative freedom, bold fashion and experimental design, the R-Series embraces the distinctive shapes, colours and textures associated with the 1960s and 1970s.
Each timepiece features a stainless steel cushion-shaped case, a double-domed sapphire crystal and a two-layer dial construction that creates depth through contrasting finishes and fine gold-coloured accents. Gold-coloured hands and Swiss Super-LumiNova with blue emission in darkness complete the dial’s visual character.
Beneath its vintage-inspired exterior, the R-Series is powered by the MIYOTA 8205 automatic movement, offering hours, minutes, seconds and a day-date function. An NFC chip embedded in the caseback adds a contemporary technological element to the mechanical timepiece.
Bringing the R-Series to Life Through Art: Sunflowerman
Adding another dimension to the launch, SEVENFRIDAY has collaborated with artist Sunflowerman, known for his distinctive fashion-inspired illustrations, to create a series of illustrated personas representing each of the three R-Series models.
Rather than presenting the watches solely as mechanical objects, the collaboration brings their individual personalities to life through characters inspired by retro fashion, colour and attitude.
The illustrations reflect the playful spirit of the collection, drawing on vintage styling and expressive personalities to create a visual narrative that extends beyond traditional watch photography.

Three Distinctive Expressions
SEVENFRIDAY R1/01
The R1/01 introduces a refined balance of warm and cool tones. Its stainless steel case frames a mineral-grey lower dial and rhodium-coloured upper dial, accented by fine gold-coloured detailing. A brown leather strap completes the vintage-inspired look, giving the watch a versatile character.
SEVENFRIDAY R1/02
For those drawn to a darker aesthetic, the R1/02 combines a stainless steel case with a charcoal-coloured, two-layer dial. Fine gold-coloured accents introduce contrast against the darker surface, while a black leather strap creates a more understated expression of the collection’s retro identity.
SEVENFRIDAY R2/01
The R2/01 embraces the warmer side of retro design with a gold PVD-coated stainless steel case and a galvanic gold-coloured dial. Its tonal composition is complemented by a green suede leather strap, creating a distinctive combination of colour and texture inspired by the expressive styling of the era.
All three R-Series models share a 40mm cushion-shaped case, double-domed sapphire crystal and gold PVD-coated crown. The automatic MIYOTA 8205 movement provides a day-date function, while 5 ATM water resistance adds everyday practicality. Each watch is fitted with a leather strap featuring a traditional pin buckle and quick-release spring bars, allowing convenient strap changes without specialised tools. The inclusion of an NFC chip in the caseback further reflects SEVENFRIDAY’s approach to connecting traditional watchmaking with contemporary technology.
