Earlier this month, Malaysian actress Zarina Anjoulie sparked outrage after sharing a few videos with controversial social media personality Hot Daddy. Unfortunately for her, the controversy grew bigger after it was reported that Zarina was being investigated.
Earlier this week, Zarina shared a video on her Instagram, revealing that she had been summoned to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) office over her recent postings. To recap, the public figure, better known as Anju, has been sharing several postings on Instagram of her and Hasli Ikhwan, a.k.a Hot Daddy, a controversial social media personality who was previously arrested for distributing pornographic material of him and other women.

Given Hot Daddy’s notorious past, many netizens were outraged over Zarina’s posting. Many slammed her for platforming the controversial figure and seemingly supporting him. It’s also worth noting that Zarina had mentioned filming videos with Hot Daddy for the brand Sylvia’s Secret and invited her followers to join a Telegram chatroom. While the videos were not explicit, it’s likely the postings prompted an investigation by the MCMC.
In her video after giving her statement to the MCMC, the actress and her lawyer acknowledged the issue and issued an apology to the public. Zarina also clarified that she will cooperate with the authorities in their investigation to settle the issue. She also later revealed through Instagram Stories that MCMC had confiscated her phone to aid the investigation.

Netizens shared mixed reactions to the matter, but most advised Zarina to stop working with Hot Daddy and his wives. Others also urged her to avoid sharing controversial content on social media. However, others defended the public figure, arguing that it was netizens who wrongfully assumed that Zarina was sharing inappropriate videos of her and Hot Daddy on her Telegram, thus prompting the questioning.
However, Zarina has shared that she’ll consider this incident a lesson for the future. As of now, the investigation continues, so we’ll have to wait and see the outcome. Check out her statement video below:
