Ever since “Wicked” dropped in cinemas last year, fans old and young have embraced the modern adaptation of the franchise with galore, with Elphaba and Glinda at the forefront. With the first part of the story ending on a high note (literally), fans have been dying to catch a glimpse of what comes next for the two unlikeliest of friends.
Today (5th June 2025), the trailer to the anticipated sequel of “Wicked” dropped, giving fans a short glimpse of what they can expect in the next part of the story. The trailer takes place after the events of the first movie, which includes an update on Elphaba and Glinda’s friendship and the events that take place after the cliffhanger of part one. Be forewarned, the next section includes minor spoilers on the first movie, and if you’re not one of those kids who know “Defying Gravity” by heart, then keep on scrolling!

What To Expect For Part Two
The “Wicked” storyline picks up from the ending of part one, where Cynthia Erivo’s Elphaba escapes from the Wizard of Oz and Madame Morrible on her enchanted broomstick. The 2-minute trailer offers a look at what to expect from the continuation of the series. Glinda is now Glinda the Good, Nessarose is the new mayor of Munchkinland, the Wizard and Madame Morrible have incited a destructive propaganda against Elphaba, and Fiyero has become the Wizard’s captain of the guard.
The trailer offers little explanation of these dynamics other than Glinda and Elphaba’s continued friendship and what could look like an alliance to take down the true evil in Oz. A scene in the trailer shows Glinda sitting next to Elphaba and says in a comforting tone, “Think of what we could do together”, a small reassurance that these two friends will stay strong till the end.

Heated Love Triangle & New Casts?
The trailer drops significant hints at a union between Jonathan Bailey’s Fiyero and Glinda, as we see the iconic character in a wedding dress going down the aisle. Part one of “Wicked” showed that Fiyero had sparks between both witches, which complicates the matter in their friendship. Director Jon M. Chu commented in an interview with Vanity Fair, “It’s life or death for all of them, so a wedding seemed appropriate. It’s harder to forgive certain things in certain scenarios. It makes it more complicated“.
The “Wicked: For Good” trailer brings back the film’s beloved cast, including all its original cast members, such as Ethan Slater’s Boq, as well as some new additions to the cast. Looking closely at the trailer, we finally get a sneak peek at the main highlight of the Wizard of Oz original cast, which includes Dorothy, Toto, the Tin-Man, the Scarecrow, as well as the Cowardly Lion. While Dorothy is an undeniable major character in the franchise, Chu wanted the focus to be on Elphaba, Glinda and the surrounding cast. “We tread lightly, but try to make more sense of how it impacts our girls and our characters than maybe the show does. We’re delicate”.
“Wicked: For Good” premieres on the big screens on 21st November 2025 with a whole new set of songs and an epic conclusion to the magical realm of Oz.
