Celebrities are often approached by fans for photos in public. Unfortunately, some “fans” are not what they seem to be. Recently, Hong Kong actress Aimee Chan (陳茵媺) agreed to take a photo with a man, not knowing he was a convicted felon.
Carriage Lau (刘马车) is a Hong Kong internet personality infamous for his criminal history. According to reports, the YouTuber was jailed for 24 weeks in 2024 for molesting seven teenage girls and a woman. He was recently released from prison and has since returned to social media. However, his image has been tarnished, and many Hong Kong netizens, especially women, see him as dangerous.
A few days ago, Carriage shared a video on his Instagram, revealing that he met actress Aimee Chan and her two sons at a supermarket in Hong Kong. In the video, the media personality shared a short conversation with the actress about how he’s a fan of her. Flattered by the compliment, Aimee politely thanked Carriage for his support before ending the conversation and walking away.
The video gained a lot of traction and prompted a slew of responses from netizens. Unsurprisingly, many expressed concern for Aimee’s safety, given Carriage’s criminal background. Some even wondered if the star recognised Carriage, believing she had mistaken him for a regular fan. Many suggested that’s why she accepted his request for a video and a photo. However, others noted that she might have just been polite out of habit.
As some fans have pointed out, Aimee looked slightly uncomfortable during the interaction. It also appeared that she was trying to leave as soon as possible, but Carriage continued talking. Additionally, the 43-year-old actress tried to get her sons away from the camera as much as possible, likely trying to avoid having their faces in the video. Once the conversation ended, the star quickly walked away, ushering her kids along.
