Fans and loved ones continue to mourn the death of Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu (徐熙媛), a.k.a Big S (大S), who died earlier this month at age 48. Unfortunately, negative issues and drama still surround the late star’s passing.
In the early morning of 13th February 2025 (Thursday), Barbie’s mother, Huang Chunmei (黃春梅), posted on social media, grieving over her daughter’s death. However, her most recent post garnered attention, as she wrote, “I don’t believe that justice cannot be redeemed. I want to go to the battlefield, cheer me up!”. Many took Huang Chunmei’s words to imply she wants to fight back her former in-laws, Wang Xiao Fei (汪小菲) and Zhang Lan (张兰).

Since Barbie’s death, her ex-husband and ex-mother-in-law have been in the spotlight with their controversial actions. Netizens previously criticised Wang Xiao Fei for using the star’s death to build a good image for himself. Meanwhile, Douyin banned Zhang Lan from the site for spreading false rumours about Barbie and her passing. However, she continued posting on other social media platforms, most notably moving to TikTok.
Many supported Huang Chunmei’s action of “declaring war” against her former in-laws, arguing that Wang Xiao Fei and Zhang Lan aren’t letting Barbie rest in peace. It’s also worth noting that the families may go into a possible legal battle over Barbie’s inheritance and the custody of her two children. However, it appears that Zhang Lan isn’t backing down either, even sharing her responses on WeChat and TikTok.
Following Huang Chunmei’s post, Zhang Lan posted on her WeChat account, revealing that she’s currently in Tokyo. When asked about the purpose of her trip, the businesswoman replied, “If others want to start a war, you have to prepare ammunition!”. Many speculate that Zhang Lan is going to Tokyo to find out details about Barbie’s death. The media personality also posted a video of TikTok, which many believed to be mocking the Hsu family.

In the video, the 66-year-old said, “Only fools would play tricks every day. Masters treat people sincerely from the beginning.”. While there was no direct mention of Barbie or her family, many took the video as Zhang Lan’s taking a jab at her ex-in-laws. Her post prompted mixed reactions from netizens. Many slammed the businesswoman and called her out for putting on a nice image, while others expressed support for her.
In the meantime, news outlets reported that Wang Xiao Fei received custody of his and Barbie’s two children. However, he recently returned to Beijing without his children, leaving netizens puzzled. What are your thoughts on this?
