Since comedian Nigel Ng, aka Uncle Roger, launched his first Fuiyoh It’s Uncle Roger restaurant at Pavilion KL last year, there have been numerous comparisons to other popular restaurants, particularly Uncle Soon Fried Rice restaurant. Even the owner of Uncle Soon believes that his fried rice dishes are superior to Uncle Roger’s.

It’s finally time for the two rivals to settle the debate by having a customer try both of their dishes, as well as a good old game of arm wrestling. Who will rise victorious? Let’s find out:

Recently, the Fuiyoh It’s Uncle Roger restaurant posted a video on its official Instagram page showcasing Uncle Roger and Uncle Soon meeting for the first time to settle the ongoing dispute about whose fried rice dishes are better. Uncle Soon displayed confidence, saying that he’s been in the business for more than 20 years, while Uncle Roger argued that he has achieved the same success in just three months.

Taking place at the Uncle Soon restaurant in Wisma Cosway, Kuala Lumpur, the two began their challenge with a game of arm wrestling. The KL-born comic won the first round, but in the second round, he lost to his senior after being challenged to use his left arm instead. Of course, to really determine the winner of this rivalry, both business owners presented their fried dish for a customer to try. The winner of the final challenge? No one. “My mother’s [fried rice] is better,” said the man in the video.

Towards the end of the video, both Uncle Roger and Uncle Soon enjoyed each other’s dishes, with the former jokingly suggesting to the latter that he should open another outlet in KLCC, where he could charge higher prices. Fans reacted to the light-hearted post with many saying that they were not expecting the collaboration between the two rivals.

Some commended them for being supportive of each other’s business while others still expressed their opinions on which fried rice is better. In the end, it all comes down to preferences. Do you have a favourite between the two restaurants?
