TWICE’s (트와이스) Chaeyoung (채영) has opened up about one of the most difficult periods in her career, revealing that she once considered quitting the group entirely, even as TWICE’s fame skyrocketed. Her honest confession sheds light on the intense pressures idols face behind the glamour and success.
On a recent podcast on YouTube, the idol spoke candidly about her journey as an artist and the toll fame took on her as a teenager. Despite the group’s growing popularity at the time, she admitted that the reality of juggling work, school, and constant performances pushed her to her limits.

When the topic turned to how she handled fame at such a young age, Chaeyoung revealed that during TWICE’s rookie years, she would sometimes sleep for only half an hour a day. This exhausting schedule continued for nearly a month. “If I slept a lot, it was like two or three hours,” she confessed, recalling how severe the lack of rest had become.
She went on to explain that the “Cheer Up” and “TT” era was the hardest time of her career. At the time, she was still attending school while juggling back-to-back promotional activities, leaving her physically and mentally drained. “That was the hardest for me,” she said. The fatigue eventually took such a toll that the idol began questioning whether she could continue her career as an idol. “I was like, ‘I can’t do this,’” she admitted, recalling how close she came to giving up entirely.
Her decision led to multiple disagreements with her mother, who encouraged her not to quit after training for more than three and a half years. “My mum said, ‘Isn’t it a waste that you trained so hard for three and a half years and now you’re not even doing anything?’” she shared.

Reflecting on those words, Chaeyoung realised she might regret her choice if she walked away from everything she had worked for. That moment of clarity and her mother’s support gave her the push she needed to keep going. And it’s true what they say, “mothers know best”, as years later, TWICE have renewed their contracts for the second time, continuing stronger than ever.
Today, looking back, her story serves as a reminder of the immense dedication and resilience behind TWICE’s success. It also highlights the personal sacrifices that often go unseen beneath the spotlight.
