Back in April, Malaysian YouTuber Soya (許素瑄), a.k.a Soya’s Plan (手癢計劃), shocked fans when she announced her split from her Taiwanese YouTuber boyfriend, René (超強) after four years of dating. However, after much speculation about their split, René admitted that the reason behind the breakup was because of his infidelity.
Soya and René had dated for four years but announced their split in April after returning from a trip to Thailand. While many fans had initially believed the two broke up amicably, a post on the social platform Dcard alleges the split was caused by René cheating on Soya.
The user claimed to have spotted the Taiwanese content creator in public with a short-haired woman earlier this year. The post received tons of attention, and many fans flooded the pair’s social media accounts to seek clarification. While the Malaysian has never confirmed the cheating allegations, she has hinted at getting cheated on with her postings and comment replies.
René kept quiet until recently when he posted a video on his YouTube channel addressing the rumours. In the video, René admitted to having cheated on Soya with the “short-haired woman”, which caused their split in April. He said he met the girl through work and began having an affair with her. The YouTuber said he had planned to break up with Soya in late March, but his infidelity was exposed, and the two broke up soon after. René apologised for his actions and said he will no longer associate himself with Soya, even in future projects.
Shortly after the video, the “short-haired woman” took to Instagram to reveal her side of the story on social media. The individual, a Taiwanese public figure named Shi Ching (石靜), shared her conversation with Soya, where she admitted to having an affair with René. While she apologised to Soya, netizens slammed her for the post, saying her words were disingenuous. Many also said that Shi Ching doesn’t seem to take the blame for breaking up a couple. Similarly, René has also received a lot of flak from netizens for his apology video.
Following René and Shi Ching’s revelation, Soya took to Instagram Stories to assure fans she was doing well. We can only hope the best for Soya, and may she find strength from her many supporters.
