And then there were only three. Ever since Daesung (대성) made it clear on his YouTube show that he, G-Dragon (권지용), and Taeyang (태양) are now the only active members of the legendary group BIGBANG (빅뱅) after T.O.P’s departure last year, fans have been anticipating some sort of reunion between the three idols.
Many hoped that maybe the trio would meet up for their leader’s long-awaited comeback later this year but fans were over the moon when the group unexpectedly reunited on stage and performed two of their hit singles. Here’s what happened:
BIGBANG’s Taeyang officially kicked off his “The Light Year” solo tour in Seoul, Korea over the weekend. At some point during the second day of his concert, the singer invited two very special guests onto the stage. Fans were screaming at the top of their lungs when both G-Dragon and Daesung made a surprise appearance to perform their group’s hit “WE LIKE 2 PARTY”.
That wasn’t all as earlier that night, fans were treated to another surprise throwback when the 31-year-old performed “Good Boy” with his group’s leader – their first time in almost 10 years and G-Dragon’s first time on stage since 2017. The audience sang along to every word and screams filled the entire venue over the sight of BIGBANG’s surprise reunion. After giving fans an unforgettable performance, the three members interacted with the crowd and revealed that their onstage get-together was not actually planned.
G-Dragon was only meant to attend the concert as a guest, which explains his more casual attire, but Taeyang managed to persuade the rapper to join him onstage. The trio’s group performances that night were entirely unrehearsed but the idols set the stage ablaze together like it was another day on tour for them, further proving their status as K-pop icons.
Fans took to social media to express their excitement of seeing BIGBANG together onstage again. Since it was a last-minute decision, many were incredibly impressed that G-Dragon remembered each step of the “Good Boy” choreography despite not performing it for nearly a decade. Hopefully, we’ll get to see another reunion when G-Dragon goes on his solo tour soon.
