Last month, many were pleasantly surprised to discover that singer Atilia Haron was the voice behind some of the most iconic jingles in Malaysia. The local star even told us that she was thrilled and touched by the overwhelmingly positive response from fans and netizens who had no idea about her voice-over gigs.

Speaking of voice-overs, the “Bahagiaku” songstress recently introduced another fellow artist, who many are very familiar with her voice but may not know her name or how she looks like. Have you ever wondered the person voicing all the announcements when you’re on the MRT? Let’s meet the woman behind the voice, Suehaily Abdullah!

A couple of days ago, Atilia Haron posted a video on her social media pages to introduce a special someone to her fans. “Guys, if you were impressed with me singing Paddlepop, Malaysia Truly Asia, and KFC, check out this lady next to me,” she said before panning the camera to Suehaily Abdullah who then proceeded to say the famous lines passengers would hear on the MRT, “Next station: TTDI,” in both Malay and English.

Just like the singer said at the end of her video, we agree that Suehaily’s voice is legendary! Shortly after posting the video, netizens on Instagram, TikTok and Twitter were impressed by the woman behind the iconic voice. Many complimented Suehaily on how she was able to sound exactly like she did in the MRT announcement recording.

This probably isn’t the first time you have heard her voice as she’s done other voice-over projects and has appeared on TV. Previously, she was a broadcast journalist for NTV7 and a newscaster for RTM before becoming a full-time voice actor. According to her IMDb page, she has been involved in the 2017 horror video game “Simulacra” and the 2009 animated kids’ TV show “Jungle Jitters”.

Apart from those, the actress has also done countless Interactive Voice Responses for Telekom, Maxis, Astro and Genting and even hosted various live events over the years. We personally reached out to Suehaily to ask about her reaction to the response to Atilia’s video to which she answered, “This is actually the 4th time my videos went viral. The first 3 were reposted without my consent and the comments weren’t very pleasant at the time – insulting my looks, and calling me a bloodsucker for sucking all their money. This time on TikTok, everyone was so nice and I enjoyed reading them. It made me feel that people actually pay attention to the announcements and that they liked it.”

The voice-over artist didn’t specify exactly which videos went viral previously other than the fact that they were for telephone companies. After receiving unwanted attention and backlash, she has since kept a low profile on social media. We’re glad that the outcome this time is far better than what happened in the past and we hope to hear more from her soon.
