It appears that Noah Schnapp is “more similar to Will” than he thought – the “Stranger Things” star has officially come out as gay!
The 18-year-old shared the news via a TikTok post on 5th January, where he addressed the information in a fairly nonchalant way. Schnapp uploaded a clip of himself lying in bed and mouthing to another TikToker named @princessazula0.

“When I finally told my friends and family I was gay after being scared in the closet for 18 years and all they said was ‘we know’,” he wrote in caption. “You know what it never was? That serious. It was never that serious. Quite frankly, will never be that serious,” Schnapp added in lip-syncing. The video has garnered over 34 million views on TikTok at the time of writing (Friday, 6th January).
In the same post, Schnapp also appeared to reference a scene from the fourth season of hit Netflix show, in which Schnapp’s character, Will Byers, indirectly confessed his love for his best friend, Mike Wheeler. The scene was notable among fans, as it resonated with many of them who were rooting for Schnapp’s closeted character. Not to mention, it also sparked plenty of rumours about the actor’s own sexuality.
Currently, the mystery-thriller series is preparing for a 5th season.
