Given how private some celebrities can be with their relationship, it can be surprising when they suddenly announce their marriage. Recently, South Korean actress Song Jihyo (송지효) shocked fans when she shared a look at her “wedding invitation”.
On 16th April 2026, Song Jihyo uploaded a new video to her YouTube channel where she invited her friend, Chef David Lee, for a home-cooked meal. As the pair sat down to eat, the actress asked David and the staff to look at their phones because she had something to share with them. Upon receiving the message, David expressed surprise.
As it turned out, Song Jihyo had sent out an image of a wedding invitation with her name. According to the image shown, the alleged wedding is between the actress, whose real name is Cheon Su-yeon (천수연), and a man named Park Jin-woo. The invitation also included the event date, 30th May 2026, and the venue, The Shilla Hotel in Seoul.
David would continue to question the legitimacy of the invitation, even asking if he should call the hotel to check. However, when the chef pointed out the absence of a map, typically included in wedding invitations, Song Jihyo admitted that the whole thing was an April Fool’s Day prank. The video filming took place on 1st April, so the actress planned the prank to fool her friend.
Additionally, Song Jihyo revealed that her “home-cooked” meal was also an April Fool’s prank because it was actually a packaged meal kit. Upon learning that he was fooled twice, David burst out laughing. Thankfully, he got his revenge and pranked the actress in return by lying to her about how he shouldn’t receive shocking news because he recently had surgery.
David then cheekily suggested to Song Jihyo to send the invitation to his wife, Rosa. The end credits revealed Rosa’s response, thanking the actress for inviting her to her special day. After seeing how they fooled another person with the fake wedding invitation, the two friends started cackling.
Fans were also initially shocked by the invite, even congratulating the “Running Man” star. Despite knowing that the invite is fake, many fans say they’ll genuinely be happy for Song Jihyo when she does eventually want to tie the knot.
