If you regularly travel to Mid Valley Megamall via the LRT, you’ve likely walked across the link bridge connecting the station to The Gardens Mall and on to Mid Valley Megamall. The bridge is right on top of the Klang River, and sometimes you’d see some very interesting things in the water.

Previously, bystanders were left completely astonished when a crocodile was spotted in the river. Many took out their phones to document the unusual sighting of the reptile at the location. Now, the river near the two shopping centres has gone viral once again, this time due to a different kind of animal sighting, or rather, a group of them.

Over the weekend, a Xiaohongshu user posted a video showing a family of otters running along and swimming in the Klang River, passing what appeared to be a monitor lizard in their path. The footage was most likely captured from the link bridge connecting the Abdullah Hukum LRT station to Mid Valley Megamall. “Otters came to Mid Valley to swim!” the user captioned the video.

The post has since gone viral on the social platform, with netizens commenting on how adorable the sighting was. Some recommended other locations where people might spot these semi-aquatic creatures, while others expressed “cuteness aggression”, joking that they wanted to raise the otters themselves. A few quipped that the Klang River is slowly turning into a zoo, given the recent spate of wildlife sightings in its waters.

This wasn’t the first time otters have been spotted in the Klang River. These adorable mammals were previously caught on camera back in February this year. While it remains unclear where the otters originally came from, it’s safe to say no one would mind seeing them swimming and playing in the area again, as they certainly bring a smile to everyone’s face. Let’s just hope they don’t appear around the same time as a crocodile, though.
