From captivating audiences on stage to inspiring minds in academia, Biduanita Dato’ Sri Siti Nurhaliza continues to prove that her influence knows no bounds. The nation’s most celebrated songstress has added yet another remarkable title to her illustrious career, stepping into the world of higher education as an Adjunct Professor.
Renowned for her timeless voice and entrepreneurial spirit, the singer’s journey now takes an academic turn with Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), where she will share her insights and experiences with the next generation of leaders. Her appointment at the Faculty of Management and Business, effective from 15th October 2025 to 15th October 2027, marks a meaningful union between art, enterprise, and education.
The appointment was formalised during an official ceremony at the Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Chancellery, UiTM Shah Alam, Selangor. The event saw the presence of UiTM’s top management and faculty members, who lauded the singer’s contributions to both the arts and business sectors. Known for her entrepreneurial acumen through ventures such as SimplySiti, her beauty and lifestyle brand, Siti’s appointment signifies the institution’s recognition of her as a role model who bridges creativity with commerce.
Expressing her gratitude during the ceremony, the songstress said she was deeply honoured by the recognition and the opportunity to collaborate with a prestigious academic institution. She emphasised that the partnership could pave the way for greater synergy between industry and academia, particularly in nurturing students to understand the realities of entrepreneurship. “I hope this appointment will open up more opportunities for collaboration, allowing students to gain a more realistic understanding of the business world. What they learn in the classroom can eventually be applied when they step into the workforce,” she said.
Reflecting on the rapidly changing landscape of the modern economy, the singer also urged young people to adopt a flexible mindset and to be unafraid of failure. She noted that the challenges of today demand adaptability and resilience, encouraging students to start small, learn continuously, and grow from every experience. “The challenges today are not the same as before. Students must think realistically and adapt to extraordinary developments. Don’t be afraid to start small or to fail, every step is a lesson,” she shared.
UiTM’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Datuk Ts Dr Shahrin Sahib @ Sahibuddin, expressed his pride in welcoming Siti to the university. He said her appointment not only acknowledges her success in the creative and entrepreneurial fields but also strengthens the bridge between academia and industry. “This appointment not only recognises her achievements but also opens a new chapter of strategic collaboration between academia and industry,” he remarked.
To mark the start of her tenure, Siti took part as a panellist in the university’s Premier Lecture Series, organised by the Faculty of Management and Business. The session highlighted discussions on creativity, leadership, and innovation, themes that resonate strongly with Siti’s personal and professional journey.
