A microphone is a singer’s best friend, and many dream of owning a custom one, as they can be quite pricey. After more than two decades in the entertainment industry, Malaysian singer Shila Amzah has finally acquired her own custom microphone. The excited artist shared her latest purchase with her fans, but just how much did it cost?
In a YouTube vlog posted by her husband, Ubai Mz, over the weekend, the mother-of-two showcased her first-ever custom microphone during their stay in Shanghai, where she is currently competing in the new Chinese programme “Singing With Legends” (我们的歌). The shiny lilac device features her logo printed at the bottom, but the most intriguing aspect is not the design—it’s the price.
When her husband asked how much the microphone cost, Shila did not provide an exact figure but revealed that it was as much as a car. “This mic costs about the same as a brand-new Malaysian-made car or a second-hand Japanese car,” the songstress explained. Ubai then jokingly asked if the expensive microphone could turn anyone—particularly him—into a good singer, to which his wife suggested he would probably need some autotune to make it work.
Based on the 34-year-old’s comments about the price comparison, the microphone could potentially cost at least over RM20,000 as you could get a 2013 HONDA City at around that price range, according to Carsome. The brand of the device was not specified, but based on the design and netizens’ comments, it could be the Sennheiser SKM 6000 BK A1-A4, which retails for around RM13,500, according to UBuy.
Although an exact figure was not provided, fans were still taken aback by the high price of Shila’s custom microphone. Many began speculating about the cost, with some suggesting it could be at least RM30,000. Others suggested that it could cost to up RM100k. The rest of the netizens simply congratulated the artist on her latest purchase, viewing it as a significant milestone in her music career.
