Actress-model Fasha Sandha is considered one of the A-list celebrities in Malaysia as she’s been involved in many iconic projects such as “Black Maria”, “Bujang Senang”, “Gong” and “Cicak Man”. She’s also proved herself to be a versatile actress as she’s done comedy, drama and even horror.
With the talent and skills under her belt, it’s no surprise that she’s won multiple awards throughout her career. Having said that, did you know she wasn’t interested in the arts until she started her career as a model? During a recent interview, Fasha got up close and personal about her past and how she was actually beaten by her mother for refusing to go to an audition.
Earlier this week, actress-model Fasha Sandha was invited as a guest on the One On One talk show with host Farhana Abdul Rahman to share more details about her life and her childhood. At one point during the interview, the actress revealed how her mothers used to beat her for not wanting to go for an audition when she was 10 years old.
“My mother really wanted me to be involved in the arts. She forced me to. I remember being beaten in the bathroom with a cane ’cause I didn’t want to go for a dancing audition. My mother really wanted me to go for that audition. I didn’t want to ‘cause I wanted to join a sports event at the time,” said the 39-year-old. The “Sihir Pemisah” star added that she gave in to her mother’s request and went for the audition.
Although unwillingly, she passed the audition. “My face was so swollen from the beating but I got selected anyway. My dancing was so stiff but I got it anyway, maybe because I was so cute at the time,” the celeb joked. She also told the host that she eventually started to develop a passion for acting after starting her career during her teenage years.
In the same interview, Fasha also shared how she got her first car at 17 years old with her own hard-earning money from being a model. “I was 17 and did a lot of modelling at the time and I was able to afford a secondhand Kancil. Although it was secondhand, buying your first car with your own money is definitely something to be proud of.”
The mother-of-three then revealed that she’d earn RM10k to RM15k per modelling project at 17 and that’s how she was able to save up enough money to buy her own car at that age. Watch the snippets of the upcoming One On One episode below:
