We’ve seen instances where food stall owners treat their customers with kindness and respect – but, unfortunately, we’ve also seen owners give their customers a less savoury treatment.
In a video shared by Twitter user @/machhiatodolce, a stall owner could be seen berating a table of customers and rudely slamming a handful of cash onto the table. According to the tweet, the incident happened at a Kuala Perlis roadside stall called Kak Ema Ikan Bakar.
Macam gini eh layan customer 👍🏻 Dari awal memang biadab, amik order asal boleh, nak senyum jauh sekali. Bila orang tegur baik baik terus mengamuk macam takda pedoman hidup 😂😭

The incident allegedly started when the customer, Farah, noted the owner’s rude behaviour towards another customer who requested to change their order. Farah then politely told the owner that she should be kinder to customers, to which the stall owner took offence and started yelling at her.
When Farah went away to take her seat, the owner approached the table to return Farah’s RM8 while yelling out, “I don’t need your RM8. I have plenty of customers. If you’re nice, I’ll be nice. If you’re rude, you can go to hell.” The stall owner’s unpleasant manner of speaking had many criticising her, saying she shouldn’t treat customers that way. Some said that the owner’s rudeness could cause her business to suffer.
Other Perlis natives also revealed that the woman has always been rude to customers, sharing their experience dining at the stall. However, a few comments had also backed up the stall owner. One netizen said that her rudeness may have been because of the stressful work environment of owning and operating a food stall. Another said customers should be more understanding and not complicate their orders, especially when dining at an old-school food stall.

While it’s hard to say who’s right or wrong, we can agree that we should also be kind to each other and be open to constructive criticism.
