Although polygamy is not an unfamiliar concept in our society, it remains a sensitive topic, particularly as some celebrities and influencers tend to treat it lightly. Many were upset when content creator Abang Tesla posted a video of his first wife crying when he announced his plans to wed a second wife.
Netizens were also shocked to learn that actor-turned-director Syamsul Yusof had secretly married his second wife in Thailand, unbeknownst to his first wife Puteri Sarah. However, some polygamous marriages have been well-received. Rather than being criticised, this particular man experienced a positive reaction from netizens after his polygamous marriage went viral.

A TikTok user known as tengggg recently posted a video of a wedding ceremony they presumably attended, which has since gained over a million views. The video showed a man from Sabah marrying two women simultaneously. He was seen cutting the wedding cake alongside his two wives, who wore matching white dresses. Follow-up videos featured the newlyweds enjoying the remainder of the ceremony, dancing and entertaining guests.
The latest video on the TikTok channel showed the two wives conversing on the dais, suggesting there was no animosity between them. Netizens were both amazed and flabbergasted, with many congratulating the newlyweds on their marriage. Some wondered if the two women were indeed the groom’s wives, while others questioned whether it is permissible for a Muslim man to marry multiple women simultaneously. One netizen claimed that the solemnisation for each wife took place on separate dates, with only the wedding reception occurring on the same day.

However, this information has yet to be verified. Based on the video posts, it appears that everyone involved agreed to the arrangements, as they seemed to be enjoying themselves that evening.
