Last month, celebrity-entrepreneur Nur Sajat hinted at her long-awaited return to Malaysia to celebrate Hari Raya with her loved ones. Although she didn’t explicitly confirm her visit, it is evident that she spent most of her Raya holiday in Singapore, where her twin children are situated. During her time in the neighbouring country, the public figure also attended events and appeared on talk shows.

Earlier this week, Nur Sajat appeared on the OurNextGuests show by SoutuDeen Studio. In the three-part episode, the Malaysian-born star discussed her early life, her career, and her current life in Australia. At one point, she opened up about her struggles with depression, particularly when she first moved to the land down under.

She revealed that at the time, she had become too dependent on medication, which affected her energy. It wasn’t until her daughter pointed it out during a video call that she realised she wasn’t being herself. “She asked me, ‘Ummi, why are you so different now? You’re not the same as you were before.’ That’s when I realised I needed to do something about it and start working again,” she explained. The entrepreneur explained that her friends played a crucial role in helping her overcome her mental health struggles, as they supported her in settling into her new life.

As she adapted to her new environment, she gradually reduced her medication until she was no longer dependent on it. In addition to discussing her mental health, Sajat also shared her thoughts on whether she would ever return to Malaysia for good. She expressed that the country will always be her home saying, “I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want to come back. However, for now, I’m more comfortable visiting neighbouring countries. I’ll visit Malaysia when the time comes.”

Sajat explained that while she would love to freely return to Malaysia whenever she pleases, she currently has no plans to settle there for the rest of her life. One of the reasons for this is her desire to avoid any unnecessary backlash or trouble that could arise if she were to rebuild her career in Malaysia.

It’s unfortunate that the business owner doesn’t feel safe in her homeland, but perhaps one day, she will be able to enjoy spending time with her loved ones in peace when she visits.

Here’s the video of her discussing her mental health:
