Though we’re far from being a perfect country, we still have a lot of things to be proud of as Malaysians. Did you know we have 11 world records? But other than the world records achievements, we should be proud of our everyday people too. If it’s one thing they say about Southeast Asian people, is that we’re very polite and friendly and that includes the people of Malaysia.

Polite and friendly? One would say that we’re just as good and bad as any other people out there but when it comes to helping or meeting foreigners, don’t we usually do what we can to make sure they enjoy their stay here? This man seems to think that we’re extremely kind and polite. Listen to what he has to say on his TikTok:

Bolu or ExploreWithBolu is a Nigerian content creator who posts videos of his travels around Malaysia on his YouTube channel as well as TikTok. His recent TikTok video titled “How Malaysians treated black + river cruise Melaka” is gaining a lot of attention with now over 500k views, 74.5k likes and almost 1k comments.

The 2-minute video is an excerpt taken from his YouTube video where he went on the Melaka River Cruise. On his way there, Bolu greeted some locals who happily started chatting with him. After the quick chat, he was met by a couple, who are coincidentally well-known TikTok influencers as well, not too far from the last crowd. He asked the couple and everyone nearby to guess which country he’s from.

Afieqah (the influencer in white) managed to guess right that he’s Nigerian and as a reward, Bolu asked his subscribers to follow her on TikTok. “Thanks so much for the love. I’m just speechless, Malaysians are so loving and welcoming,” he said in his pinned comment. The video was met with positive reactions from netizens who are all glad that he’s enjoying his trip.

In the full video on YouTube, Bolu took his subscribers around Melaka’s night life after he was done with the river cruise. Prior to the recent video, he posted another video titled, “A Beautiful Day in Melaka” where he said he felt very welcomed after meeting and chatting with many friendly locals.
