Celebrities appearing on television and news broadcasts aren’t uncommon. However, Hong Kong actor Him Law’s (羅子溢) recent appearance on a news broadcast in China had netizens giggling because of his “ordinary” title.
A XiaoHongShu user recently shared a video on the platform about a segment on a Chinese news broadcast. The segment was about An An and Ke Ke, the two giant pandas gifted by the Chinese government to Hong Kong. As part of the segment, the field reporter interviewed guests who had visited Ocean Park in Hong Kong to see the pandas in person.

One of the visitors was Him, who was at the park with his wife, actress Tavia Yeung (楊茜堯), and their two children. However, during the news interview, Him was labelled as “Mr Law, Hong Kong citizen” instead of his usual “Hong Kong actor” title. This small detail amused many, including the user, who captioned their video, “Why do I feel that this citizen looks like a celebrity?”.
More netizens chimed in with their comments, saying the news reporters might not be familiar with Him since they’re not from Hong Kong. On the other hand, some quipped that the title made sense since he wasn’t at the venue as an actor during the interview. Funnily, this incident also reminded netizens of when actor Sean Lau (刘青云) was interviewed by a news outlet at a grocery store and was labelled as a “Mr Lau, regular citizen”.

We wonder if Him had told the reporter about his job when he accepted the interview. Regardless, it was amusing to see the TVB star not treated as the big-time actor he is. What are your thoughts on this?
