In Malaysia, there are many iconic and beautifully designed mosques across the country. These buildings are not only places of worship but also attract numerous tourists who wish to visit and learn about the religion of Islam.
That being said, there are not many mosques inspired by traditional Chinese architecture. However, one mosque that has been attracting considerable attention recently is the Masjid Jamek Cina Muslim Klang.

The development of the mosque was announced in 2019, with construction beginning the following year. By 2024, it was partially opened to the public before the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, officiated the opening ceremony in December. Since the grand opening of Masjid Jamek Cina Muslim Klang, many visitors have come to learn more about its architecture.
In a video posted by Zestie Malaysia on Instagram earlier this week — which has already garnered nearly one million views — netizens were given a tour of the stunning mosque. The tour guide first introduced the Moonlight Tower, located at the main entrance of the mosque. In the past, people would climb these kinds of towers in China to make public announcements or observe the moon. However, with the advent of modern technology, it now serves as a symbolic reminder of tradition.

The guide then showcased the main prayer hall (which could fit about 400 visitors) while explaining the inspiration behind the design. According to FMT, the mosque was inspired by the architecture of the Great Mosque of Xi’an in China, one of the world’s oldest and largest mosques, built over 1,200 years ago. The host continued the tour by showcasing Chinese-translated Qur’ans, the large garden, imported furniture from China, as well as various artefact exhibitions.
Shortly after the video was posted, many netizens—particularly Malay Muslims and Chinese viewers—were captivated by the mosque and its design. In the comments, several users remarked on the beauty of the place of worship, while others praised the guide for her eloquence and informative delivery. Some expressed their desire to visit the mosque one day.
