After over a week in police remand, Malaysian singer Namewee (黄明志) has been released on police bail. However, does that mean the media personality has no connection to the murder of Taiwanese influencer Iris Hsieh (谢侑芯)?
On 13th November 2025 (Thursday), Namewee made his first public appearance since entering police remand last Wednesday (5th November 2025). The singer has been released on bail as investigators await Iris’ autopsy report. Kuala Lumpur police chief CP Datuk Fadil Marsus said that Namewee is released on bail until 26th November 2025 (Wednesday), adding that the investigation papers have been referred to the prosecutor’s office.

The investigation papers will be referred back to the Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC) once the autopsy report is made available. Meanwhile, Attorney General Tan Sri Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar previously said that the AGC had found no evidence to show that Namewee was involved in Iris’ murder after examining the investigation papers. However, further probes have been instructed pending new findings in the case.
While police have yet to find evidence to tie Namewee to Iris’ murder, Datuk Fadil previously suggested that the two media personalities may have been more than just friends. During the press conference earlier this week, he said, “They are friends and they have other relationships that I will not get into. I do not need to reveal the full extent, but it is a ‘special’ relationship.” According to reports, Namewee and Iris met overseas before she passed away in Kuala Lumpur.

There were other allegations made against Namewee amid the investigation into Iris’ murder. Taiwanese adult film actress Princess Dolly claimed the controversial singer flew her to Malaysia earlier this year for a so-called “mysterious trip”. She claimed that the two had casual sexual relations and that Namewee gave her a drink that contained psychoactive substances. The adult actress also alleged that Namewee lied about his relationship status.
Investigations are still ongoing, and only time will tell whether Namewee will make a statement about the case as he usually does. Meanwhile, here’s a look at Namewee’s first public appearance since being released on bail:
