It has been 9 months since the passing of everyone’s favourite Matthew Perry who played the iconic role of Chandler Bing on “Friends” from 1994 to 2004. Since his passing, there has been speculation that his death could have been done by foul play.

An update has emerged from those claims, 5 people including 2 doctors and the actor’s personal assistant have been arrested. During a news conference, Martin Estrada, U.S. attorney for the Central District of California announced a shocking “number of charges against the five defendants”.

Among the defendants are 42-year-old Physician Salvador Plasencia and 41-year-old Jasveen Sangha who were the culprits in providing illegal drugs to the late actor including injecting him with an overdose of ketamine during his last week. Co-conspirators named in the case include Matthew’s live-in assistant, 59-year-old Kenneth Iwamasa who faces up to 15 years in prison, 54-year-old Dr. Mark Chavez and the late actor’s “acquaintance” will serve a sentence of 25 years, and 54-year-old Eric Flemming who is scheduled to face up to 10 years in prison.

Text messages were revealed during the news conference between the two doctors that read “I wonder how much this moron will pay” and “Let’s find out “. These illegal physicians were using the late actor’s desperation to gain profit for themselves, resulting in the “17 Again” star’s autopsy records containing the amount of ketamine found in his blood was in the range used for general anaesthesia during surgery. According to the news conference, Matthew Perry had been illegally obtaining drugs from the two physicians and paying up to USD$2K (RM 8,872) for a syringe that only cost USD$12 (RM 53.43).

Fans of the late “Friends” star have been deeply saddened by the revelation that the beloved actor, known for his role as a comfort character to many, had struggled with drug abuse and ultimately became a victim of murder. It’s a relief to know that those responsible will face justice, but our hearts go out to his friends and family during this incredibly difficult time. We extend our deepest condolences and hope that his legacy will continue to bring comfort and joy to those who loved him.
