Yesterday (Wednesday, 12th June) was such a happy day for both BTS and ARMYs as Jin (진) has officially been discharged from his mandatory military service after 18 months. Even members of the popular K-pop group came to welcome their oldest member home as soon as he exited the military base.
The celebration continues as today is BTS’s 11th Anniversary but it is also the day when fans get to meet Jin in person at the annual BTS Festa event! According to the announcement made last week, about 1000 lucky fans will get the chance to receive a hug from the 31-year-old singer during the 3-hour meet-and-greet session but first, many would have to endure waiting hours in line to even reach the entrance of the venue.
According to multiple sources, it was said that ARMYs from all over the world began lining up at the event’s entrance as early as 2am (Malaysian time). Judging by how long the queue is, many speculated that there must be more than 1000 fans waiting for the chance to see Jin live in person. However, through the photos and videos posted, it definitely looked as though fans were lining up for an actual concert. According to one fan account, it took approximately 10 hours for the last batch of fans to enter the venue.
Around 100 reporters were at the scene and managed to capture the very lively atmosphere of ARMYs patiently waiting in the hot sun to celebrate the momentous occasion with their idol. A few even interviewed some of the enthusiastic fans waiting in line. Apart from the extremely long queue, fans began sharing photos and videos of everything the event space has to offer from attractions to games to limited-edition merch.
While many showed excitement, some took to Twitter to complain about how long they’d have to wait until they could finally enter the event venue. Others even expressed their shock after seeing the seemingly never-ending queue. At the time of writing, there have been no reports of injuries or chaos so we hope ARMYs will take care of themselves and have the best time of their lives.
