Malaysian director Michael Ang is known for his brutal honesty and almost no one is safe from his comments – not even Janna Nick! In a recent Instagram video, the director said he was casting an actress for a new project. According to Michael, the role is for a woman aged 27 to 30, chubby and with average looks.
He added that he did not intend to body shame but that it was a role with specific requirement. He also listed a few actresses he isn’t interested in casting, hoping the comments would recommend a new face.

Sure enough, the comments section soon had tons of local talents putting in their names for the role, including actress Janna Nick. While the 28-year-old was enthusiastic about getting cast, Michael shut her down without hesitation, saying, “You are perfect for the role, but you’re expensive. Your rate is at diva level, I can’t afford it.” The comment left many netizens in stitches because of Michael’s unfiltered honesty.
Besides Janna, many other talents have placed their name into the mix like plus size model Syasya Ibrahim and content creator Airiena Yahaya but some celebs also had fun with the comment section. Both actor Fahrin Ahmad and entrepreneur Aliff Syukri jokingly said they were down for the role, while actress Nesa Idrus joked that she would gain weight in 2 days just to be cast. Azirul Othman, a TikToker, even offered to be a tree or a lamp post – as long as he’s in the project.
Since Michael did note that Janna would be perfect for the role, maybe they could negotiate to work something that is mutually benefiting? Guess we’ll find out when the director shares more details about the project in the future.
