Earlier a few months back, global superstar Lisa (리사) from sensational K-pop group BLACKPINK (블랙핑크) surprised Asian fans with her first solo fan meet-up tour, which included five cities: Singapore, Bangkok, Jakarta, Kaohsiung, and Hong Kong. To Malaysian Lilies (Lisa’s fans) disappointment, Kuala Lumpur was not a part of the tour, leaving fans feeling discriminated against.
However, one local fan decided to step up the game in whatever it took to meet the Thai idol. Malaysian social media influencer @/alexhkf, better known as Alex, had to be the luckiest fanboy as he stood on the same stage as Lisa during a meet-up concert in Singapore earlier this week (Monday, 11th November 2024). Here’s what happened:
In the now-viral videos posted by Alex on his social media, he shared that he took part in the red carpet challenge for fans before the event, with stars as the main theme. To his surprise, he secured second place out of five, with all winners’ photos displayed on the big screen. The winners were then given the golden opportunity to step on stage and interact directly with Lisa.
When asked to introduce himself, the influencer proudly stated, “Hi, I’m Alex, and I’m from Malaysia,” as the crowd cheered. He explained his look by saying, “I realised the theme was stars today, so I made sure I had the most stars in the world.” Thanks to his sparkling outfit, the fanboy continued to serve looks, with the BLACKPINK member visibly amused by his antics.
However, his antics didn’t stop there. In another video, Alex impressed the “Moonlit Floor” singer with his Thai skills, delivering a few last words for her. “Because I like Lisa so much, I’m studying Thai really hard right now,” he said in her native language. Surprised by his unexpected fluency, the 27-year-old idol praised Alex’s pronunciation and even thought he might be Thai for a moment.
Local fans were entertained by the influencer’s confident personality, admiring his lack of nerves when meeting the idol face-to-face. Many expressed envy over his once-in-a-lifetime interaction with Lisa, while others felt proud to see a Malaysian representative stand out at the event.
