Other than sampling our local delicacies, it’s always exciting to see our favourite K-pop idols donning traditional attire. In recent years, several idols, including members of ATEEZ and GOT7’s Mark Tuan, have been spotted wearing the Baju Melayu. The only difference is that the former wore them during a fansign event in South Korea, while the latter did so during his visit to Malaysia.
Just like ATEEZ, it seems we’ve got another K-pop idol who went viral after being gifted the Malaysian traditional attire. It’s none other than Kim Hanbin (김한빈), also known as B.I (비아이), who donned a Baju Melayu on during a recent fansign event in his home country! Full story below:

As you may have already heard, Korean rapper-singer B.I will be making his way to our shores for his “The Last Parade Tour” in Kuala Lumpur later this year. Following a spectacular performance in 2024, complete with what felt like a never-ending encore, fans have been eagerly awaiting his return. It seems some couldn’t wait any longer and decided to send him an early gift from Malaysia.
During his recent fansign event in South Korea over the weekend, the “Tasty” singer received a set of Baju Melayu (Cekak Musang style), complete with a Songkok and Sampin. With the help of a staff member, the 28-year-old put on the traditional attire onstage during the event. Photos and videos of him in Baju Melayu quickly went viral on social media, with Malaysian fans expressing their excitement and delight at seeing their favourite artist wearing the outfit.

Many described how handsome B.I looked in the Baju Melayu, while others praised the fan who prepared the gift for choosing a colour that suited him perfectly, even pointing out how the sampin complemented his current hair colour. Another video circulated showing a fan interacting with the idol about Malaysian fans’ positive reaction to the viral photos, to which he admitted that the outfit was a little too small for him. This was evident, as he was seen struggling to put on and take off the top of the traditional attire.
Hopefully, he will soon receive a Baju Melayu set that fits him better when arrives in Malaysia later in September. What do you think of B.I in his Baju Melayu?
