Malaysia has recently become a popular destination for celebrities and public figures to connect with their fans, and former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov is no exception. As part of his “The Path of a Champion” tour, the athlete visited Kuala Lumpur, where he met local fans at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur on 29th September 2024.
Before the main event, one lucky fan had the extraordinary opportunity to meet Khabib upon his arrival at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport. The fan proudly declared himself the first person to take a selfie with the champion in Malaysia, igniting a wave of envy and excitement across social media. Here’s what he shared:
Yesterday (Sunday, 29th September), TikTok user @/udinsofficials, known as Udin, shared a video recounting his unforgettable experience of meeting the UFC legend Khabib Nurmagomedov. In the video, Udin explained that a friend working at the airport tipped him off about a private flight arriving at 2am, carrying the Russian fighter and his team.
Udin’s first attempt to snap a picture with his idol didn’t go as planned, as Khabib headed straight to his car after disembarking from the jet. Feeling nervous but determined, the fan expressed in the video, “I’ve always wanted to meet great people like him. I had to get a picture with him no matter what it takes.”
After several more attempts, the male fan finally succeeded in getting a photo with the “Eagle” himself. He expressed his gratitude to Khabib, thanking him for being a source of inspiration and for motivating him to maintain a positive attitude and become a better Muslim. Udin also shared that he has been a dedicated fan since 2015, rewatching all of Khabib’s UFC matches and admiring the fighter’s journey both in and out of the octagon fighting ring.
Naturally, other local fans expressed their envy over Udin’s lucky encounter with Khabib, remarking on how fortunate he was to meet the MMA legend in person for free. Many were only just learning about the former star’s visit to Malaysia, while others jokingly asked if Udin had sparred with Khabib to confirm it was really him in the flesh.
