“Squid Game” Season 2 broke multiple world records despite getting mixed reviews. It was previously reported that the show is the first series on Netflix to debut at number one in all 93 countries where the streaming service is available. In anticipation of the long-awaited second season of the beloved series, Netflix Malaysia partnered with MRT Corp for an immersive takeover at Ampang Park MRT station.
Many of you may have noticed the larger-than-life Young-hee located at the Urban Skate Plaza outside the station. Many would pose for a photo with the terrifying, motion-sensing doll, but one man decided to “participate” in the deadly Squid Game. Watch:
In a TikTok video posted by user @/laveyyeager, a man can be seen slowly approaching Young-hee to play the game of Red Light, Green Light. “This guy thought he was Player 456”, the text in the video reads, referencing the main character Seong Gi-hun who is played by Lee Jung-jae. As soon as the giant doll stopped singing, the man froze in his tracks to avoid being “shot” by the character, as demonstrated in the “Squid Game” series.
While he was playing the game, passers-by paid little attention to him, while those behind the camera recording tried to hold in their laughter. The moment that had everyone in stitches was when he froze once more before shouting, “I’VE PLAYED THIS GAME BEFORE,” as if mocking Young-hee to claim his victory.
The video has since gone viral, with over 10.2 million views. In the comments section, netizens were baffled by the man’s actions, stating that he was too immersed in his own world. Others were impressed by his boldness, as he didn’t appear embarrassed while playing the popular children’s game with the large doll in public, surrounded by people. Some wished they had been there to join him in his little shenanigans.
