It’s not impossible to stumble upon a celebrity while walking around in the city – but what about our country’s prime minister? Recently, a TikTok user shared how she and her family were starstruck after meeting Malaysia’s Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
TikTok user @/syxqrx recently shared a video of her family’s unexpected encounter with the premier at a Nasi Kandar Stadium outlet. In the video, Anwar Ibrahim was first seen walking into the mamak with his family, including his grandchildren. The group then sat down on the table beside the TikTok user and her family. According to the video, the user’s father wanted to ask for a photo with the political figure, so he went up to him after his meal.
Surprisingly, as the man approached the prime minister, Anwar Ibrahim pulled out the seat next to him and gestured for the man to take a seat. The two men then chatted a little while the TikTok user continued recording. The TikTok user wrote in the video captions, “Still can’t believe I met Anwar Ibrahim in person. DSAI and family are very humble and down to earth. My dad must be so happy. Thank you, PM!”.
Many netizens have reacted to the video, expressing amazement at the TikTok user’s encounter with the prime minister. Some also expressed jealousy, saying they also wished to meet Anwar Ibrahim in person someday. There were also many comments on the public figure’s humbleness, pointing out how he quickly invited the man to sit next to him. However, some netizens voiced concern over Anwar Ibrahim letting someone get close to him.
It’s worth noting that many security personnel were spotted in the video, so, likely, the interaction was safely guarded. Regardless, we can’t help but admire Anwar Ibrahim’s humble nature when speaking to Malaysian citizens.
