There have been many unfortunate cases where homestay guests revealed that they have been spied on or secretly recorded when staying at the accommodation. Recently, local entrepreneur Datin Lyanaz Hassan exposed a homestay staff member for recording her while she was showering.
Yesterday (Tuesday, 26th August 2025), the founder of Casa Corazon Sdn Bhd shared a video on her Instagram Stories showing her berating a man. In the captions, Datin Lyanaz revealed that the man is a staff member at a local homestay who she caught filming her while she was showering. As shown in the video, the emotional entrepreneur even struck the man as a group of people looked on, including a woman believed to be his mother.
In a set of Instagram Stories posts, Datin Lyanaz shared more details about the incident, saying that she was showering at the homestay when she realised that she was being spied on. She then yelled out to her staff to catch the person, only for the individual to flee the scene. Datin Lyanaz then reported the incident to the police. The next day, the man’s parents came to meet the entrepreneur, begging her not to press charges against their son.
The public figure claimed that the man had filmed her showering for five minutes and had other inappropriate videos in his phone gallery. She also alleged that the individual is a drug addict. In her post, Datin Lyanaz also said that she will not let the case slide, adamant that she will press charges against the man. She argued that the man could repeat the same action with other guests at the homestay if he isn’t punished for his crime.
Netizens have reacted to the incident, mostly voicing support for Datin Lyanaz to report the man to the authorities. Many also urged her not to show leniency, arguing that many more women could become victims. Others also asked her to expose the name of the homestay to warn the public. However, the entrepreneur chose not to disclose the name of the homestay, only confirming that the incident happened in Terengganu.
In her latest update, Datin Lyanaz said she’ll share more details about the incident in a livestream later today (Wednesday, 27th August 2025).
