Unfortunately, BLACKPINK’s Lisa (리사) has become the latest artist to face this issue. However, fans are beginning to suspect that the leak of her album wasn’t the work of a hacker. Here’s why:
During her most recent livestream, Lisa discussed her upcoming solo album “Alter Ego”, only to learn from fans that it had already been leaked online, 2 days before the official launch. The idol was visibly shocked, appearing in disbelief. That moment during the broadcast has since sparked outrage among fans, who were just as devastated as the artist.
Many began pointing fingers at potential culprits, but one theory appeared to gain widespread agreement among fans. It was speculated that RCA Records, the label with which Lisa signed a partnership, could have been responsible for leaking the new music.
According to fans, RCA Records has a reputation for allegedly leaking artists’ music ahead of its official release. Although there is no concrete evidence, this has reportedly occurred with Tate McRae, Jade, Miley Cyrus, Doja Cat, and SZA, all of whom have been, or are currently, signed to RCA. This has led fans to believe that the leak of Lisa’s album was no coincidence.
After some digging, fans discovered that RCA had “accidentally” shipped the BLACKPINK member’s album too early to a few individuals, which may have caused the leaks. The recipients were then criticised for uploading the music online, even if it turned out to be a genuine mistake by the label.
Meanwhile, while many were frustrated about the leak, Lisa’s official lightstick also sparked backlash. Netizens expressed safety concerns about the star-shaped lightstick, deeming them too dangerous as it could injure concert-goers. Some also suggested that the item may be prohibited from certain venues because of how pointy it is.
