South Korean actor Kim Soohyun (김수현) continues to be the talk of the town because of his recent scandal involving the late actress Kim Saeron (김새론). Unfortunately, his scandal has also affected other celebrities.
YouTube channel Pixed recently released a new episode of “Fave’s Fave”, featuring TOMORROW X TOGETHER/TXT’s (투모로우바이투게더) Soobin (수빈). The show revolves around idols talking about their favourite things. In the episode, guest Beomgyu (범규) shared his love for K-dramas, including his favourite series. Sticking with the episode’s theme, the show set was decorated with cardboard cutouts of famous actors and actresses.
However, some viewers noticed that one cardboard cutout in the background was blurred out for the entirety of the episode. Judging by the shape and look, many believed the cutout was of actor Kim Soohyun. The video was likely filmed before the star’s scandal broke out, so the editors had to edit out his image to avoid backlash. Many have since pointed this out, like one viral TikTok video that said, “The way they blurred that one actor like he didn’t exist”.
The video prompted many reactions from netizens, mostly mocking him for getting “cancelled” by the entertainment industry. Some fans also argued that the video may have also edited other parts of the video because Beomgyu is a fan of Kim Soohyun’s drama, “Queen of Tears”. One netizen even equated the situation to that of local actress Ruhainies, whose face was blurred out in an advertisement following her khalwat scandal with actor Aliff Aziz.
“My Bias’ Bias” isn’t the only show that had to be re-edited because of Kim Soohyun’s scandal. G-Dragon’s (지드래곤) variety show “Good Day” famously featured the public figure as one of its guests, alongside other Korean celebrities. However, viewers noticed he was constantly cut out of frame in the episode despite having a prominent seat placement. Before the episode aired, the production team postponed the release, likely to make last-minute amendments because of the scandal.
It’s also worth noting that Kim Soohyun was dropped from several endorsement deals because of his scandal, so it’s possible that much more content had to be scrapped or re-edited. What are your thoughts on this?
