Last weekend, fans were delighted by the sudden reunion of Taiwanese boy band F4 at Taiwanese rock band Mayday’s (五月天) concert. Days after the emotional reunion, member Ken Chu (朱孝天) shared his thoughts about the band reconnecting and how it happened.
During a livestream broadcast on 16th July 2025 (Wednesday), Ken spoke about the reunion and how it came to be. The singer revealed that Mayday frontman Ashin (阿信) had planned the reunion because he wanted to invite Taiwan’s biggest stars as part of a “throwback” segment for Mayday’s concert. To reunite the four members of F4, Mayday’s manager contacted each member and invited them to perform.

Ken said the manager had called him several times, but he would always decline the invitation. Despite that, Mayday’s manager never gave up and continued persuading him. Ultimately, the singer agreed to the reunion after learning why Mayday’s Ashin wanted it to happen. The manager explained, “Ashin feels that all the beautiful things from when we were young are gradually disappearing, so he wants to bring back these beautiful memories. One of them is F4’s reunion.”
The 46-year-old also admitted that it was awkward to reunite with his groupmates as it had been nine years since he last met them. Ken also brought up the show “Meteor Garden” and how it became the stepping stone for F4. On the topic of the iconic teen drama, he also spoke about the late Barbie Hsu (徐熙媛), who played the female lead Shancai. While talking about the late actress, Ken started tearing up.

He said that Barbie, fondly known as Big S (大S), was an important figure who connected F4, given her role in the hit drama. Ken added, “I believe that the four of us loved her in different ways when we were young. This is an emotion that goes beyond love.” While wiping his tears, the singer also said he didn’t want to bring up Barbie’s name into the conversation, but couldn’t suppress his feelings.
F4’s reunion at Mayday’s concert also brought up rumours of a possible reunion tour. While nothing is in place, let’s hope the four could consider it to make fans’ dreams come true. In the meantime, watch a clip of Ken’s livestream and the group’s performance of “Meteor Rain” below:
