It’s been over five months since Manon announced her hiatus from KATSEYE group activities to focus on her health. Since then, her groupmates have released new music and even announced a new tour, leaving fans exasperated for a clear answer about Manon’s return.
Earlier this week, Lara, Daniela, Megan and Yoonchae met with a 10-year-old fan named Mia, who is battling brain cancer. The group’s meeting with Mia was captured on video and shared on social media. It’s worth noting that Sophia was absent from the mini meet-and-greet as she’s currently on a short break to recover from an illness.

During the group’s meeting with Mia, the young fan gifted the members six matching bracelets that she handmade. Upon receiving the gift, Lara assured her that she would make sure Sophia and Manon would also receive their bracelets. Mia then candidly asked the idol, “Is she coming back to the group?”, referring to Manon’s hiatus.
The group all responded to Mia’s straightforwardness with a laugh. However, Lara quickly explained that the members are not in a position to give a direct answer. She then added, “But we love her, and we’ll give her your love,” hinting that the members are still in contact with Manon while she’s on hiatus.
The interaction and Lara’s response sparked interest from EYEKONs (KATSEYE fans) and netizens. Many praised the idol for addressing the situation respectfully, saying they were left touched by how she spoke to a young fan. Some also quipped about how frank Mia was when asking about Manon.
However, the video also sparked criticism towards KATSEYE’s management, HYBExGEFFEN. Many slammed the agency for refusing to issue an additional statement about Manon’s hiatus, while pushing their idols to answer questions from fans and media. Some also argued that the KATSEYE members themselves are left in the dark about their groupmate’s status.
For now, there doesn’t seem to be a definitive answer about Manon’s future with KATSEYE. However, we hope she will return to group activities, given how fans are eager to see her back on stage.
